Skip bins are located at  transfer stations on Palana Road just north of the turn-off to the township of Killiecrankie, and on Lady Barron Road just outside the town boundary of Lady Barron.

Council are actively trying to better the waste management arrangements for the Island and establish an efficient, effective waste transfer system that benefits the Island, its users and Council as the regulator and service provider.

Cash 4 Cans is a recycling initiative with Flinders District High School, Hydro Tasmania and Flinders Council.

Community members assist with sorting aluminium cans that are then baled and sent off-Island for recycling. All money is raised for the Flinders Island District High School.

Contact wastemanagement@flinders.tas.gov.au or phone 04156 730 174 if you would like to come along on the day or register and be involved.

Flinders Council runs drumMUSTER drop-off days on the first Wednesday of every month at the Whitemark Waste Facility from 8:30 to 11:30 am.

Quantities greater than 20 may be booked in for an alternative time by contacting the Waste Management team (wastemanagement@flinders.tas.gov.au or 0456 730 174)

Drums must be of the eligible type and be cleaned to the appropriate standards or they may be rejected.

Participating manufacturers are identified by the inclusion of the eligible drumMUSTER container logo on their eligible containers. The logo can be displayed on the chemical label, embossed into the container wall, or applied as a sticker to the container. Containers not displaying this logo may be from non-participating manufacturers and will not be accepted into the program.
